ก่อนที่จะเข้ามาเรียนที่นี่เคยได้ยินเพื่อนๆจากประเทศอื่นพูดถึงว่าที่นี่สอนดียังไง พอเราเรียนจบจากอีกโรงเรียนนึงต้องการหาโรงเรียนใหม่ พี่แซมก็ได้แนะนำโรงเรียนนี้มา คิดไม่ผิดที่เลือกเรียนที่นี่ เพราะทุกคนน่ารักมาก แล้วที่นี่เรียนไม่เหมือนที่อื่นตรงที่ว่าทุกคนจะต้องนำ tablet หรือ laptop ไปเรียนหรือใช้ e-book นั่นเอง (เพราะคอร์สที่เรียนหนังสือเล่มใหญ่และเยอะมาก เรารู้เพราะมีเพื่อนเรียนอยู่ที่อื่น) เราแค่เอา tablet หรือ laptop ไปเองแค่นั้น สะดวกสบายสบายมากเลยค่ะ และอาจารย์ก็สอนเข้าใจดีค่ะ คอยใส่ใจนักเรียน เพื่อนๆมาจากหลายที่ ส่วนมากโรงเรียนอื่นจะมีแต่เอเชี่ยนเป็นส่วนใหญ่แต่ที่นี่มีนักเรียนมาจากหลายๆที่ ยุโรปก็เยอะค่ะ เรียนแล้วสนุกดีค่ะ ดีใจที่เลือกเรียนที่นี่ค่ะ แล้วที่นี่มีร้านอาหารเป็นของโรงเรียนเองด้วยนะคะ ขอบคุณพี่แซมที่แนะนำที่นี่ค่ะ

Sam is one of the most amazing mentors and advisors you would ever know. 

While I was searching for an institute to study abroad, none of the education advisors would help me.  They did not even try to look at my case, due to my age, but Sam did.  He gave me many course alternatives to make sure I could select the best option for myself; and because of his advice, my whole application process was very easy.

The first couple weeks in a new country is very tough for everyone mentally.   Even then, Sam gave me courage and kept me on track.  He was one of the persons who understood my situation most.  I would not have made it through without his mentoring.   

I really appreciate his willingness and sincerity to go out of his way helping me out. He’s like family to me.

I highly recommend Sam if you are looking for an advisor for studying aboard (Canada). He is the person you would want to go for.

First of all, I want to say 'thank you' to Sam who has helped me since all the way back in Thailand, right from the start. I found UCAN Study in Canada from the Internet; however, I wasn't sure about using his service because I’d never heard of it before and there was no location where the company was at. I emailed him first to discuss what I was looking for. Sam got back to me as soon as possible. It was a fast, accurate, and precise service since the first day. His way of service wasn’t the same as other agencies, and it was what I was looking for: someone who can give advice while I proceed with everything by myself. It’s an advantage to know how things work and go because I have to survive myself alone eventually. However, Sam never abandons his students. He always gives me options and choices. Up until now, he keeps following up to ensure everything goes well with me. 

I chose George Brown College because of its reputation of chef school. It has been four fantastic months since I landed in Toronto, a vibrant city with people from all over the world, and a wide vary of cultures. (It might not be a good place to expect a 100% English speaking environment. Yes, everyone communicates in English, but I find various accents such as Korean, Chinese, Indian; and sometimes people just speak their own languages, other than English). Moreover, all instructors, so far as I know, really have experience in food service industry. They know what to do in real scenarios. It might take an effort to get adjusted at first, but it’s a great reward I obtain so far. 

The courses really hone my skills as I expected with a balance of theoretical and practical classes, and since international students can work part-time, working off-campus part-time can really give me further experiences out of school.  

These are just briefly an opinion in my point of view.

คุณภาพสถาบัน/หลักสูตร: การเรียนการสอนของที่นี้ค่อนข้างเน้นการ illustrate จากประสบการณ์ของผู้สอน อิงจากทฤษฎีในหqนังสือ โปรแกรมที่เจนเรียนเกี่ยวกับด้านโรงแรม การแสดงตัวอย่างเพื่อให้นักเรียนเข้าใจ ฝึกสกิลที่นักเรียนควรมีเพื่อสนองความต้องการของตลาด เน้นการมีส่วนร่วม ยกตัวอย่างเช่น การแสดงความคิดเห็น การทำงานร่วมกับเพื่อนร่วมชั้น การประเมินผลการเรียนมีค่อนข้างบ่อย บางวิชามีการสอบแค่มิดเทอมกับไฟนอล แต่บางวิชามีสอบสามมิดเทอมกับไฟนอลซึ่งต้องทำให้อ่านหนังสือ ทบทวนความรู้ตลอดเวลา นอกจากการสอบที่มีเป็นระยะแล้ว การบ้านมีเยอะพอสมควร ต้องรีเสริชหาความรู้รอบตัวด้วย

คุณภาพอาจารย์ผู้สอน/เพื่อนร่วมชั้น: ค่อนข้างประทับใจกับ instructors ทุกคน เจนไม่เคยเรียนสถาบันรัฐบาลมาก่อน Instructors มีความเป็นมืออาชีพ มีประสบการณ์ในองค์กรใหญ่และมีชื่อเสียง ตอนเข้าเรียนใหม่ๆ ค่อนข้างกังวลกับเรื่องภาษาเพราะผู้สอนบางท่านพูดเร็วมาก แต่พอเรียนไปซักพักก็เริ่มปรับตัวได้ สำหรับเพื่อนในคลาส ถือว่าเป็นความโชคดีของเจนที่เพื่อนในรุ่นนิสัยดี ส่วนใหญ่เป็นแคนาเดียน เรื่องภาษาไม่ต้องพูดถึง เป็น English speaker ซะส่วนมาก ไม่ต้องกลัวว่าภาษาจะไม่พัฒนา อีกอย่างคือ ช่วยกันเรียน มีงานหรือการบ้านก็ช่วยเตือนกัน รู้สึกประทับใจมากๆ

คุณภาพตัวแทนสถาบัน/ที่ปรึกษาการศึกษา: เจนได้รับคำแนะนำในการเข้าเรียนที่ VCC จากพี่แซม ตอนแรกก็ค่อนข้างสับสน ไม่รู้ว่าจะไปทางไหนดีเพราะเจนมี long term goal คือการได้อยู่และทำงานต่อที่นี้ ซึ่งพี่แซมได้แนะนำและอธิบายอย่างละเอียดในแต่ละสาขาพี่แซมมักมีทางเลือกอื่นรองรับเสมอ หากเราไม่สามารถเดินตามแผน1ได้ เราก็จะไปแผน2 ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อตัวนักเรียนเอง รู้สึกประทับใจมากๆคะ นอกจากนี้ยังมีการอัพเดทเกี่ยวกับการเรียนเรื่อยๆ

Tuition Refund: COVID-19 Travel Restriction

ขอบคุณแซมมากๆค่ะ ที่ช่วยดำเนินการติดต่อโรงเรียนเพื่อนสมัครเรียนจนถึงตอนขอ refund เนื่องจากสถานการโควิดเคสเราเป็นเคสที่ตอนสมัครเรียนขอแบ่งจ่ายค่าเรียนเป็นสองครั้ง แซมก็ติดต่อขอทางโรงเรียนมาให้ได้ พอจ่ายค่าเรียนครึ่งนึงไปแล้ว สถานการโควิดในไทยแย่ลงทำให้เกิดการ lock down ไม่สามารถเดินทางข้ามจังหวัดไปทำวีซ่าได้ เราจึงตัดสินใจยกเลิกเรียนและขอ refund แซมช่วยดำเนินการให้เป็นอย่างดี ไม่มีความยุ่งยาก รอไม่นาน ตอนแรกเราทำใจไว้แล้วว่าน่าจะโดนหักค่าธรรมเนียมเยอะมาก แต่พอได้รับ refund คืนมาเกินความคาดหมายของเรามากๆโดนหักค่าธรรมเนียมไปน้อยกว่าที่เราคิดไว้มากๆ ขอบคุณแซมอีกครั้งที่ช่วยดำเนินการเป็นอย่างดีมาตลอดตั้งแต่ตอนสมัครเรียนจนถึงตอนขอ refund ไม่มีการตอบช้า หรือละเลยถึงแม้ว่าเราจะไม่ได้ไปเรียนแล้ว

I am very pleased with Sam as my advisor. He is exactly knowledgeable about education and living in Canada because he was in Canada many years. Unlike with other agencies, students don't have to pay him [any commission or extra fees]. Yeah, I mean students pay ZERO! If you want to study in Canada, he would be your best choice!

ขอบคุณ Sam มากๆๆ ครับที่ช่วยติดต่อโรงเรียน และโปรโมชั่นคอสเรียนถูกๆๆที่สถาบัน ให้ เนื่องจากผมมาแคนาดาด้วยวีซ่าท่องเที่ยว มันยากมากที่จะสมัคร Student and Work Permit ก่อนหน้าที่ผมจะคุยกับ Sam ผมได้ไปติดต่อในหลายๆๆโรงเรียนแต่คำตอบที่ได้คือ ไม่สามารถทำให้ได้ หลังจากที่ Sam ติดต่อโรงเรียนให้ผมก็ลองเข้าไปคุยกับโรงเรียน  และเค้าก็ยินดีที่จะช่วยผม โดยหลังจากติดต่อแค่ 3 วัน เค้าก็ได้ ช่วยผมสมัคร Student and Work Permit ออนไลน์ให้ผมทันทีและเริ่มเรียนในวันนั้นเลย ภายในอาทิตย์นั้นผม เริ่มรวบรวมเอกสารทางการเงิน และตรวจสุขภาพ แล้วก็ยื่นสมัครออนไลน์ หลังจากยื่นไป 1 เดือนผมก็ได้รับจดหมาย พร้อมกับ Student and Work Permit ตอนนี้ผมเรียนจบแล้วและกำลังทำงานอยู่ ส่วนโรงเรียนที่ลงเรียนคนไทยน้อยมาก เหมาะแก่การฝึกภาษาเป็นอย่างดี ขอขอบคุณ Sam อีกครั้งที่ช่วยผม ด้วยดีตลอด และคอยโทรมาสอบถามข่าวคราวอยู่ตลอดเวลา.   

Translation: Thank you very very much, Sam, for contacting the school for me and offering me a very economical study-course promotion indeed.   I came to Canada on a tourist visa, and it was very hard to subsequently apply for study and work permits. Prior to contacting Sam, I approached very many other schools, but the responses were the same that it could not be done. Then I tried contacting the school Sam referred me to, and they were pleased to help me.   After only 3 days of contact, they confirmed to immediately assist me with the online application for the study and work permits, and I began my study on that very same day. Within that week, I gathered my financial documents and had my health check before submitting my visa application online. One month after the submission, I received a letter in response along with my study and work permits.  The school had very few Thai students, so it was well appropriate for language learning. Now I am working after completing my study. I would like to thank Sam again for his great help and for his always calling me to see how I am doing.

ก่อนอื่นต้องขอบคุณพี่แซมมากค่ะเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเรียนและเรื่องวีซ่า เล่าก่อนว่าเมื่อปี 2014 ได้วีซ่านักท่องเที่ยวมา6เดือน และตั้งใจมาเที่ยวแค่1เดือนเท่านั้น แต่พอมาถึงแวนคูเวอร์จริงๆกลับอยากอยุ่ต่อ เลยปรึกษาพี่แซมเรื่องเรียนและเริ่มลงเรียน3เดือนด้วยวีซ่านักท่องเที่ยว

และเมื่อครบ3เดือน ทางพี่แซมได้ถามว่าอยากเรียนต่ออีกมั้ย ถ้าทำวีซ่าที่แคนาดาจะง่ายกว่ากลับมาไทยแล้วทำวีซ่าอีกครั้ง แต่ตอนนั้นตั้งใจจะกลับไทย และไม่คิดว่าจะกลับมาแคนาดาอีก ถ้ามาก็คงอีกสักหลายปี

แต่อยู่ไทยได้แค่7เดือน ก็อยากจะกลับไปตั้งใจเรียนภาษาอีกครั้งที่แวนคูเวอร์ ปัญหาคือเรื่องทำวีซ่าและที่เรียนอีกเช่นกัน ตัดสินใจปรึกษาพี่แซม ซึ่งพี่แซมได้แนะนำหลายที่มาให้เราตัดสินใจ ในที่สุดก็ได้โปรโมชั่นของโรงเรียนมาเป็นเวลา7เดือน ด้วยวีซ่านักเรียน จึงตัดสินใจทำวีซ่าต่อค่ะ

มาที่เรื่องวีซ่ากันบ้าง ก่อนอื่นต้องบอกว่าเป็นคนไม่เก่งภาษา อ่านจดหมายที่ทางสถานทูตให้มาก็กลัวจะแปลผิดๆถูก ก็ได้พี่แซมช่วยเหลือทุกขั้นตอนและให้คำปรึกษา แปลเอกสารให้ฟัง โทรมาถามไถ่ตลอดเวลา คือรุ้สึกว่าพี่แซมไม่ใช่เอเจนซี่ทั่วไป เป็นเหมือนพี่คนนึงที่แนะนำน้องๆจริงๆ คือยังติดตามยังโทหา จนตอนนี้มาอยุ่แคนาดาก็ถามไถ่สารทุกข์สุขดิบกันตลอดเวลา มาถึงวันนี้คือกล้าพูดมากขึ้น เข้าใจมากขึ้น  มีประสบการณ์ที่ดี มีเพื่อนต่างภาษาต่างถิ่น ที่เราสามารถคุยกะเค้าได้

"My friends and I went to Banff (Alberta) for the New Year's Eve. It was really beautiful there in winter. On the highway back to Vancouver, there was an avalanche; so we couldn't get back to Kamloops that night. We were stuck in Revelstoke; all the hotels were fully booked, so we left our information at the Tourist Information Centre for a hotel to call if there was a room available for us. Around 9 p.m.. the Tourist Information Centre closed, so we had to move to a McDonald's. [Instead     of a hotel] Luckily, a Canadian family called us.  They said they had a cabin available for us, and they   led us to their place.  It was 10 minutes out of town.  They were very kind to us [and did not even  charge us for staying there]. It was the really, really greatest experience that I had ever had in my life!"

About services of Sam / UCAN Study in Canada:  First of all, I have to say thank you very very much for all your information and a lot of things more about knowledge on Canada that I needed to know when staying in Canada. I really appreciate it. You also told me many things that were useful for me for living in Canada. And the most important thing is you protected my benefits as if they were yours even sometimes I did not think about them at all, but you did for me! I love it, and thanks a lot, Sam.

About my experience at UVic and the course I study: When I study English at UVic, I can feel the environment of learning all the time. It improves myself more and more in every way, and it also makes me realize what the most important thing is that I should do in each second, so I can use my time as well as it should be. And for the English course, I really appreciate that every teacher takes great care to me. They try hard to explain to me when I do not understand something, respect my thoughts, listen to me when I have questions, and explain things to me until I understand and get the  answers I need. And I know for sure that my English improves faster than if I study English in Thailand even I only study 2 months at UVic.

About my UVic homestay experience:  I can feel a lot of real Canadian traditions and learn more about how to live in Canada by living with the host family. My host family tries to understand me especially, at first, I can't speak English as well, but they understand me, and help me some time when I have to do my homework. They have a lot of patience! And they take great care to me as a member of the family. We also had talking about studying Law in Canada {my host mother is a lawyer, and my host father is a paralegal], I love it!

About my experience with Victoria [capital city of BC, Canada]: Even I went to Canada in the worst season [Winter], but that's not what I focused on. I believed that it didn't matter; I always could learn from it. Victoria is the best city in Canada for me. I love the city that is not much big. I don't like a big city like Vancouver: I think it's crowded and very busy, so Victoria is pretty perfect for me! I love the nice people in Victoria. They're truly the nicest people that I have ever met!

About my experience visiting other cities of Canada:  I visited Rocky Mountains (my dream destination, and I did!), Whistler and Vancouver; so I can say that Canada is such a beautiful country on Earth! There are a lot of truly beautiful places which I know I want to come back again to when I have a chance! And Canada is the best country for living. It is one of the  safest places on Earth!

Sam treats me like he is one of my family.  He gives good suggestions about study and my life in Canada. That is why he seems like he is my family.  

I am a client of of UCAN Study in Canada in the Work and Study Programme.  I came to study in Canada because I would like to improve my English skills. At first, my English placement test score was Level 2 (out of 9 levels).  I was very ashamed of myself that I got  a Bachelor's degree, but my English skills were so bad; and I was required to be interviewed by the college advisors before admission.    

Now I think if I didn't come to Canada, I would have lost my English ability. After coming to Canada, I never feel sad about the decision.  I have got a lot of friends from other countries, that is as important as studying in class because they can help you improve speaking skill and make you not feel lonely here.  

Although we all have graduated, we still keep in touch. I took the paid-internship placement programme at the college, so they found me a good job that I had wanted.  At my job, I am the only Thai person in the company, so we all have to speak English all the time. To be honest, even I am not good in my English, I try to do everything I can to improve it.

 Sometimes, I cried and asked myself, "Why I'm here. I was happy in Thailand and had everything I wanted. Why did I come to Vancouver to work hard?"   But I  now realize I have got new experiences by doing things I have not done before, which have made me a strong person.

Thanks to Sam for the good opportunity to be here. Thanks for the good home-stay.  Thanks for everything the college gave me and for my job placement at Stanley Park Pavilion.
